Q.1
What
is homeopathy ?
Homeopathy (also
spelled homoeopathy or homœopathy);
is a system of alternative
medicine originated
in 1796 by Samuel
Hahnemann, based on
his doctrine of similia
similibus curentur ("like
cures like"), according to which a
substance(drug) that causes the symptoms of a
disease in healthy people will cure similar
symptoms in sick people.
It is a system of medical practice that treats a
disease especially by the administration of
minute doses of a remedy that would in larger
amounts produce in healthy persons symptoms
similar to those of the disease.
Q.2
Is Homoepathy a proven science
?
Hahnemann the founder of homoepathy and his
followers went on to test the effects of almost
100 substances on themselves, a process known as
"proving." The typical procedure was for a
healthy person to ingest a small amount of a
particular substance (drug) and then attempt to
carefully note any reaction or symptom
(including emotional or mental reactions) that
occurred. By this method, Hahnemann and his
followers "proved" that the substance was an
effective remedy for a particular symptom. The
collected experiences of such incidents became
the basis for a compendium called the Materia
Medica. Because some of the substances tested
were toxic (such as poison ivy, strychnine and
various snake venoms), during a proving it made
sense to ingest minuscule doses. This may be the
source or the homeopathic principle of
"infinitesimal dilutions" in which the most
dilute solutions are alleged to be the most
potent.
LATEST PROVING IN NANO TECHNOLOGY
Scientists from the Indian Institute of
Technology-Bombay (IIT-B) have established that
the sweet white pills work on the principle of
nanotechnology.
Homeopathic pills—made of naturally occurring
metals such as gold and copper-—retain their
potency even when diluted to a nanometre or
one-billionth of a metre, states the IIT-B
research published in the latest issue of
Homoeopathy, a peer-reviewed journal published
by the reputed Elsevier. IIT-B’s chemical
engineering department bought commonly available
homoeopathic pills from neigbourhood shops,
prepared highly diluted solutions and checked
under powerful electron microscopes to find
nanoparticles of the original metal.
“Our paper
showed that certain highly diluted homoeopathic
remedies made from metals still contain
measurable amounts of the starting material,
even at extreme dilutions of 1 part in 10 raised
to 400 (200C),’’ said Dr Jayesh Bellare. His
student, Prashant Chikramane, presented the
paper ‘Extreme homoeopathic dilutions retain
starting materials: A nanoparticulate
perspective’, as part of his doctoral thesis. IIT
theory proves what some homoeopaths have always
known
Homoeopathy was established in the late 18th
century by German physician Samuel Hahnemann.
While it is widely popular in certain countries,
especially India, the British Medical
Association and the British parliament have in
recent times questioned homoeopathy’s potency.
Around four years ago, British research papers
rubbished homoeopathy as a mere “placebo’
Q. 3. Does HOMEOPATHY act slowly ?
ANS . 1. The notion "Homoeopathy acts slowly?"
or " HOMOEOPATHY takes long time to show
results." is not true. The homeopathic
philospophy book called organon in aphorism two
says that cure takes place rapidly. Take the
look the look at aphorism two
"The
highest ideal of cure is rapid, gentle and
permanent restoration of the health, or removal
and annihilation of the disease in its whole
extent, in the shortest, most reliable, and most
harmless way, on easily comprehensible
principles”.
Q. 4. Why a detailed history is needed for
homeopathic treatment ?
ANS. 4. Our surrounding condition can influence
us and is capable of producing disease. These
conditions may include weather, climate, food
and also interpersonal relation ship with
others. So homeopathy doctors go into every
details like his likes / dislike /aggravation/
amelioration of symptoms in relation to food,
people and weather(hot cold, rainy, sun,
freezing).some times even if the symptoms has no
direct relation ship to the external
surroundings even then it is considered when
arriving at medicine.
Q. 5. I am scared to take homeopathic treatment
as I have heard it aggravates the existing
conditions initially. Is it really so ?
ANS. 5.The slight increase of symptoms does not
matter because it is the same symptom in disease
to be treated that is aggravated and do not
produce any new symptoms. In other systems of
medicine like allopathy it produce new symptoms
in the form of side effect.
Q. 6. What do you mean by holistic medicine ? Is
homeopathy a holistic system of medicine ?
ANS. 6.. The system of treatment that takes into
consideration the mind-body entity as a whole,
can be put under the Holistic Medicine. As
HOMEOPATHY goes into your deep study, by
considering your immediate sufferings, your past
illnesses, your hereditary tendencies and family
history, your emotional status as a whole -
during illness and otherwise, your liking and
disliking in food, drink, temperature, weather
etc. and many more things to select an
appropriate remedy to stimulate your immune
system as a whole to make you disease- free
totally, in a HOLISTIC WAY.
Q. 7. Do homeopathic medicines contain steroids
?
ANS. 6. Medicines can be checked at any reputed
laboratory to rule out the possibility.
Q.
8. I am a diabetic. Shouldn't homoeopathic
medicines will add on to my sugar load as they
are made up of sugar?
Sugar of pills or technically called globules
does not have any influence in diabetic
treatment as such a minute globules hardly
produce any effect in our system. Globules
medicated with suitable medicine for diabetic in
fact cures diabetic.
